Detection of heat-emission sources using satellite imagery and morphological image processing

چکیده
In this paper the automatic detection of industrial heat sources is presented. The proposed method processes the thermal band images acquired by the TM sensor on board Landstat 5 satellite. It is based on a morphological image processing method which removes negligible heat sources such as sun-exposed materials, while preserving the significant ones. It can be used to estimate the energy losses by industry and as tool for large-scale energy conservation methods.
